Thomas Hedderwick Exhibition
Trip to the V&A
30 September 2012
Inverted traffic cones outside V&A
Designing the Extraordinary
Titanic on the pavement outside the V&A
We went across to the V&A today to see the Thomas Hedderwick exhibition, 'Designing the Extraordinary'. Fascinating, but crammed into an impossibly small space, so I spent less than 10 minutes feeling I was in an artistic version of the Black Hole of Calcutta, before escaping outside to breathe. It was the last day of the exhibition, which probably made things worse -- and I did get to bump into Michael Pawlyn, whose work in the biomimicry field I immensely admire. And, worth the entire trip, there was a section of the new London bus, designed as an update of the much beloved Routemaster, though I wanted to carress its lines and upholstery, something denied by the signs.
